How do fraud page get your email address?

Post by Naughty_Stitch »

In this topic, we described why you might have received the scam email.

Our project faces blocking and search engine ranking problems: key search results are being sold to scammers.

Do not use search engines to find our project. The first links you see are always fraudulent.

As soon as you enter your email address into the login form on a fraudulent page, even with the wrong password, the scammers will already have your address. And then you will receive several phishing emails.

Scammers use fake websites to profit:
  • They steal your money, even using verified payment methods.
  • They steal your data. They collect your logins, passwords, and some data you provide when making payments.
  • They try to undermine your trust in our project. They use our name to deceive you, which undermines your trust in Z-Library.

How to recognize phishing site?

Post by Naughty_Stitch »

Your main verification tool is your browser's address bar. Don't use
z-lib.[cv]
z-lib.[id]
z-lib.[ai]
zlibis.[com]

Next, we presented the differences between the pages; please read and review the images carefully.

1) We have hidden the number of books in our database. There are blue "Z-Library Home" and green "My Library" buttons in the upper left corner of the screen

2) Light and dark themes are available to every user. For premium users, we also offer a colorful Aurora theme.
3) You always see the "Most popular books" section.
4) Real support service email address: support@z-lib.fm
5) Online reading is available to all registered users
6) 10 free direct downloads per day for each registered user.

For comparison, here is a picture of a fraudulent page

How to recognize that you are received scam email?

Post by Naughty_Stitch »

Any mention of the following in emails is 100% fraudulent:
  • We do not have "personal managers" or individual contact persons. We communicate with users exclusively as a project team.
  • We do not rush you. We never say "do this quickly" or "hurry up." We tell you about the project and give you the choice to support us.
  • We do not offer "lifetime premium status."
  • We do not plan to become a "closed" or "private" system. Our mission and principles of openness remain unchanged.
All information about available methods can be found on the official Z-Library page (https://z-lib.sk/how-to-donate). This page is always available in the upper right corner of our website. Instructions and full terms and conditions are also listed there.

How to stay safe?

Post by Naughty_Stitch »

  • Check links before you click. Put your mouse over a link to see where it goes. Or, right-click to copy the link and paste it into a notepad to read it first.
  • Use different passwords. Do not use the same password for everything. Every account should have its own password.
  • Do not use Google or any engines to find project. Searching for Z-Library can lead you to fake websites.
  • Save the official link. Add the correct website to your browser bookmarks so you can find it safely next time.
  • Set a catchy profile picture. A bright image will act as a marker that this is your account.
Just see example

I've been caught, what should I do?

Post by Naughty_Stitch »

Please keep calm. Scammers want you to panic and make mistakes. Be careful and follow these instructions:
  • Change your passwords: If you entered any personal information on the website, especially passwords, change them immediately.
  • Clear your browsing history: Delete your browsing history and cache from your internet browser.
  • Please add their email address to spam. Also mark as spam/fishing 3 addresses noreply@[z-lib.wiki] , noreply@[z-libis.com] and noreply@[z-lib.mx]
  • Click the "Unsubscribe" button at the bottom of the scam email. It's safe, we checked it.
Contact us at support@z-lib.fm if you need assistance.

One procedure I always recommend when visiting a new domain for the first time is to make up a random valid email address and password. What I mean by valid is the email is formatted like an email. Not that it has an address box attached to it.

eg:

test2345@fake.com

Chuck something like that into the login box, and add a random password.

The scam site won't care, and will log you in, as they now have 'your' login details. A valid domain will throw up an error.
